We welcome young persons (without dependent children) on permanent and fixed-term contracts, work-study students, interns, students, and young researchers:
– Aged 18 to 26 R’JT residences
– Aged 26 to 32 in R’JAM residences
– Students and young researchers in HOME’R residences
- I am looking for an accommodation, what shall I do?
You should apply on our website by clicking on the « Apply » tab. Applications can only be filed online.
Make sure you have all the requested documents before starting the application procedure. The residence will quickly request those documents.
- When shall I apply online?
You may apply all year long.
The notice periods are short (8 days to a maximum of 1 month), and we do not hold waiting lists. Therefore, we recommend that you do not apply too early.
Example: If you wish to move into the residence in September, you can submit your application from July.
Advice: Wait until you know more about your situation at the date you wish to move in.
- Which residence shall I choose?
The ALJT is willing to help young persons live closer to their place of work or training centre. Make sure there is an easy access from the residence you choose to the place you work or study. Plan your route
The residences in Paris are the most requested; we therefore recommend that you choose a residence in the suburbs of Paris (all our residences are accessible by public transportation).
A selection of residences will be available according to your profile (age, activity, and type of accommodation).
- Can I choose several residences?
You may only choose one single residence.
If there are no flats left in the residence you choose, your application may be considered by other residences nearby.Indeed, we do our best to find the best solution for each applicant (according to the place where you work or study).
- How can I know if there are flats left?
The notice periods are very short (8 days to a maximum of one month); therefore we cannot know in advance how many flats will be available.
The residences in Paris are the most requested, in particular in the 4th and 11th arrondissement. To maximize your chances to get a flat in a residence, we recommend that you choose a residence in the suburbs of Paris (all our residences are accessible by public transportation).
- How shall I contact a residence?
To file a request, you first need to subscribe and you will then be able to get in touch with the residence through your personal account. This is the only way to contact the residence as we receive more than 50 000 applications every year, and our teams would not able to respond to all telephone inquiries. All the exchanges are only done thought the website.
- Which residences are available for students?
The ALJT has two HOMER residences available for students and young researchers, located in Gennevilliers, Boulogne Silly and Vaucresson.

- Are children accepted in your residences?
Children are not accepted in the residences. However, we host 8 single parents in the residence « Dorothy Height », in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Learn more

- How do I fill out my application?
When filling out the form, information messages will come up: please do take them into account. Clearly indicate all the requested information at the date you wish to move into the residence, and not your current situation.
Example 1: You’ve just found a new job but your permanent contract won’t start before 1 month. Clearly indicate « Permanent contract » when filling out the form.Example 2: You are a student but you are about to complete an internship as part of your course of study. Clearly indicate « intern » when filling out the form.
- Has my application been registered?
The application process has two steps:
Step 1: A first email is sent to you to validate your email address. Click on the provided link to continue with your application. If you haven’t received such email, check your spam folder.
Step 2: Once you have completed your application, you will receive a registration confirmation e-mail.Save this email: it contains your login information to access your personal space
- I haven’t received any registration confirmation e-mail.
The registration confirmation e-mail may sometimes not be correctly delivered. If you do not receive your login information, we recommend that you:
– check you spam folder in your mailbox (certain types of emails may directly go to this folder),
– Check the « Promotions » or « notifications » tabs in your Gmail account (this system of tabs has been implemented by Gmail to automatically send the incoming emails to specific mailboxes).
- I forgot my password
Just click on « I forgot my password » on the login page and enter your email address.
- I do not manage to connect to my account
Make sure you are using the correct login and/or password when connecting to your account. If you are not, please refer to the section “I forgot my password” (link to the answer of this question).
If you still do not manage to connect to your account, it may be because your account has been disabled for the following reasons:
- Your file has been closed as you haven’t sent the requested documents
- Your file has been refused
- You have withdrawn your application
- How do I edit my personal information?
As long as the residence has yet not requested your documents, you may edit your profile. Once the residence has requested your documents, you may no longer make any change. However, you may contact your residence by email, through your personal account, to provide extra information or to notify them of a change in your file.
- Can I withdraw from the application process?
You have the possibility to withdraw from the application process. However, you will have to wait 3 months before applying again to any ALJT residence.

The residence processing your application will send you an email to request the following supporting documents:
> A copy of your ID (ID card or passport)
> A copy of the documentary evidence of your professional activity:
– Work contract or promise of employment
– Internship agreement
– Training certificate
– Research contract or researcher card
– A certificate from Pôle Emploi
> A copy of your proof of financial resources
– Latest wage slip
– Scholarship certificate
– Notification of payment from the Assedic
> A copy of your notice of 2015 tax (on income in 2014) or a notice of non-taxation (or photocopy of the tax assessment of your parents if you are attached to their tax household, or a letter, from you, explaining why you do not have any tax notice and stating the amount of your resources in 2014)
> A bank account numberOther documents may be requested (as an alternative or in addition to other documents) depending on your situation. Example: You will be asked to provide information on your guarantor if you are a non-bursary student.
- I do not have all the requested documents in my possession, what shall I do?
In the download area, you may indicate the reason why you do not have all the requested document(s).
- I cannot download my documents
Each supporting document shall not exceed a weight of 1 MO. Reduce the size of your documents. If some supporting documents remain to heavy, you may send them by post to the residence (at the address listed in your personal account)
- Which tax notice shall I send to the residence?
The tax assessment or notice of non-taxation is required to have access to social housing.
– you must send the copy of your notice of 2015 tax (on income in 2014);
– or a notice of non-taxation;
– or the photocopy of the tax assessment of your parents if you are attached to their tax household;
– or a letter, from you, explaining why you do not have any tax notice and stating the amount of your resources in 2014.
- What is the tax revenue?
The tax revenue Y-2 is the amount of resources you have received 2 years ago.
Example: in 2016, take into account your revenue from 2014.If you did not receive any revenue, or if you were abroad, enter 0 in the corresponding box.
- What is the unique number?
The regional unique number guarantees your registration as a social rental housing applicant and certifies the date of this application. In Île-de-France, the unique number is regional.
If you have your number, you may specify it. If you do not have any number, the team of the residence will show you how to proceed during an interview.
- Which supporting documents shall I send?

- What are the different steps of the application process and how long does it take?
Step 1: You will receive a first answer within 8 days (request for supporting documents, referral to another residence, or refusal).
Step 2: Upon receipt of your supporting documents, the residence will consider your application within 15 days.
If your file is incomplete, the residence will send you an email to request the missing documents.
Step 3: Once your file is complete, the commission will consider your application as soon as possible, depending on the available accommodation.
- How can I find out more about the status of my application?
Go to the home page of our website www.aljt.com, click on « connection », and find out more on the status of your application through your personal account.
You may also send messages to your residence through your personal account.
- Why has my application been refused?
We receive 50 000 applications each year for 7 000 rental units. Unfortunately, we are therefore obliged to refuse a great number of applications due to the lack of availability. We are working hard on the development of our housing stock in order to respond favourably to the requests, but it takes a lot of time…

You will have to wait 3 months before applying again, as there is a great number of applications. Meanwhile, we recommend that you visit the website www.urhaj-idf.fr, to find out more about other residences for young persons in Ile-de-France.
- What are the different steps of the application process and how long does it take?

- What types of accommodation do we offer?
The temporary flats (for individuals or couples) are furnished and we offer them from 1 month to a maximum period of 2 years.
We do not offer flats for stays of less than 1 month.
If you are looking for a flat for a short stay, visit the website www.fiap.asso.frThe majority of our units are small studio flats: individual housing from 12 à 20 m2, with kitchenette, bathroom and toilets.
We also offer:
– Studio flats: housing for 1 or 2 persons, from 20 à 30 m2, with kitchenette, bathroom and toilets.
– Individual rooms (12 m2) in shared flats, with kitchen, bathroom and toilets for 3 persons (sharing accommodation)
– Individual rooms (12 m2) with bathroom, toilets, and collective kitchens.
- Are the flats accessible to people with reduced mobility?
The ALJT has 300 units suitable for people with reduced mobility.

- Can I visit the flats?
They are so many applicants that it is not possible to organise visits within the residences.
The team of the residence carries out the visits during the pre-admission meeting.

- Are pets allowed within the residences?
Pets are not allowed within the ALJT residences. The regulation of each residence prohibits all pets within its flats.
- Can I lodge another person in my flat?
You can lodge another person in your flat under conditions.

- What are the prices of the flats?
We offer flats from 410€ per month, including rent, water, electricity, heating, sheets and services. The prices are detailed on the page of each residence. There are no administration fees.
All our flats are approved for housing benefit (APL).
- Are the flats approved for housing benefit (APL)?
All our flats are approved for housing benefit. You can perform price simulations online to estimate the amount that you would qualify for (external link to the CAF web site).
- What are the different payment means?
There are two payment means:

– Secure online payment by credit card
